Introduce yourself. How long have you been working at CreativeX? What team are you currently part of?

My name is Laura Palumbo and I joined CreativeX in May of 2022. I am the Learning and Development (L&D) Lead which is part of our People team.

Describe your role to someone who has never heard of it.

I make sure everyone is upskilled and/or reskilled according to industry trends or shifts to keep employees agile and with the knowledge, resources and skills needed for success. The goal is to create highly engaged and skilled individuals and teams and keep people growing in ways that excite them. I like to think of this in terms of the 3 E’s - Education, Exposure and Experience - and assess which of the 3 E’s an individual needs to develop and create learning offerings that match that craving.

What made you choose CreativeX?

I loved that despite CreativeX’s size we wanted to invest early on in development. Most companies don’t think about including a learning and development function until they are bigger. Learning is a clear priority here and knowing I could be a part of scaling it out was an exciting opportunity. I was also excited to be a part of a company driving an industry-disrupting product that has the potential to shape society for the better - who we depict in advertisements and how we depict them can really shape society’s perception and make us more empathetic toward others.

When you first started, was there anything that surprised you about working at CreativeX?

Before I started, I thought that because we are distributed teams across multiple cities that there would be communication challenges. I did a listening tour when I first got here that allowed me to get feedback on areas of the company that were going well and areas where we could improve. I was surprised that everyone reported feeling a sense of connection and has regular communication with each other despite our different time zones and locations. While each city and office location has its unique culture, we truly are all united and connected by the larger CreativeX values.

What is the long-term impact you hope L&D has at CreativeX?

I hope that anyone that comes to CreativeX can look back at their time here and feel like it was a place integral to their development and was a launching pad for them in their career. I want them to be able to say that CreativeX was the place they learned the most!

What would you want people considering CreativeX to know about L&D?

I want candidates to know that I’m hungry to know people’s ideas for how they want to grow and develop, and I want them to feel like CreativeX is investing in their growth from the moment they join.
